Thought I'd start a fresh thread so we can hear about the aftermath. What happened to the remainder of the horses in Dean's possession? Any news on the horses who left last spring? Hoping for good news and fat and sassy horses from the bags of bones we saw this time last year!

My friends have two babies. One grew 4'' in the first month they had him and both are filling out very nicely. They have a great home. They are learning ground manners and picking up their feet and the farrier visited them.

thats awesome news diane....just goes to show what food (that magical secret to rehab) can do for a horse...
ginger was a horse i will never forget...a very classy chestnut TB mare that was dignified all the way to the end even tho she suffered so much...this was one of those horses that keeps you in rescue even tho you think you just cannot take it anymore...soo sad.

i have a question. i hear that the convicted animal abuser/neglector has raised a bunch of money to sue another rescue. does this mean that all her debts/monetary settlements are paid off now? someone told me they read that she had a big sum of money for this suit on the RO board...did anyone on there question this large sum of money? the judgements she was handed down are all listed on the king county court site, thousands...i am sure she plans on paying those people she wronged before she heads back to court to sue someone else...thats only fair, right? oh wait, does a convicted animal abuser know what fair means?

I see stupid people.
Guess you shouldn't believe what you hear Kimc That is clearly not what is says.
You are so full of s.h.i.t.!
Also wanted to ad it was a PLEA - she was not FOUND guilty. Big difference. Anyone who has any idea how the legal system works knows this.

I see someone in complete denial. You pled guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty, Dean. You took the sure thing. Someone with a strong case would have chanced a trial, especially for a piddly misdemeanor. You could have taken a plea bargain months earlier. A trial date was scheduled. Pre-trial hearings. You got scared (and smart) at the end and took your last out. Hoarders are notorious for avoiding plea bargains for months on end, because they are never guilty! www.nolo.com/definition.cfm/Term/32498033-A44D-4965-A29C4EB43B194F0B/alpha/P/plea bargain - legal definition PLEA BARGAIN A negotiation between the defense and prosecution (and sometimes the judge) that settles a criminal case. The defendant typically pleads guilty to a lesser crime (or fewer charges) than originally charged, in exchange for a guaranteed sentence that is shorter than what the defendant could face if convicted at trial. The prosecution gets the certainty of a conviction and a known sentence; the defendant avoids the risk of a higher sentence; and the judge gets to move on to other cases.

thanks watermark...i guess dean, i mean spotted mares, didnt even understand what happened in her case...she should thank you for clarifying...
you are absolutely right, i DONT know how the legal system works because I FOLLOW THE RULES and dont need to know!!! that is something i am proud of is that i dont even know where the courthouse IS!!!! DONT NEED TO! i pay my bills, feed and care for my animals, and follow the law because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO...
you pride yourself on knowing all these attorneys and knowing how the "legal system works"...i pride myself on never having to waste my time with how to defend myself...its really not that hard to be a law abiding citizen...all the hoarders and convicted animal abusers should try it sometime...

Apparently, Dean is leading the crusade for a class action lawsuit against CBER. You know, maybe they can use the money to open a slaughter plant here in Washington, as I don't foresee anything but more of the same happening for the next several years. People will send money to CBER, dean will still collect horses, and those people will still make money hand over fist.

So Dean opens up PART of the RO board to the public, the part that disects and bashes CBER and locks the rest away from criticism? What is it with the people who continue to support either one of them? There are legitimate rescues out there, why, why, why stay when so many things have been done by both of these groups that goes against common decency, the intent of rescue and in some cases, the law. Geez, Dean ADMITTED neglecting horses and sam has no problem sending horses to slaughter and ripping people off in the process. Yet, there is a steady stream of staunch defenders on both sides, saying the exactly the SAME THING about the other.
I read a poster on RO saying how awful CBER was and no matter how much good they did, it didn't outweigh the bad things they did. Excuse me? Dean helped some horses, while she starved and neglected the rest, in her yard and around the region.
My only conclusion is that these people secretly love the drama and think that what they are doing is above reproach because of "good intentions". Good intentions don't mean a hill of beans, especially in the hands of sick and manipulative people. Anyone that continues to support these people and their organizations has absolutely no excuse. There are good rescues out there that desperately need help. It isn't that hard to find them.
