you know how easy it is for people to say there opinions which everyone has. me, jess, and tash all tryed our hardest to help dean out. we would get horses out and some how she would acuire more. i remember two horses that she got i acquired about then the next day they were gone? so many unanswered questions about her. because of her and the things she has done i now don't want anything to do with horse rescuing. it breaks my heart. and after she killed angel it really killed me. it took me a month to actually to get out and ride my own personal horse. everyone has there own personal story with dean. ya maybe at one time she was great at what she did. i have no clue. she did some good with some of the horses but other ones not. i will never understand this reasoning.

acarlson, dont despair. soooo many of us want answers that i think we will never get and we just have to focus on letting the law/courts do their thing. you are NOT ALONE to leave the rescue world as it is just the must frustrating, mind numbing place to be...the horses are the BEST, it is the people that can make you crazy. dont get me wrong, there are some fantastic people in rescue but the deans and her supporters and those who play both sides of the fence can really discourage those who are truly in it for the horses.

how about first paying those people that formally filed within the courts for things like HAY and then sending a little nugget to those people that cleaned up her mess...spent thousands and countless hours rehabbing horses that she neglected. it is not about the money for most of us, it is about taking responsibility and acknowledging that she lied and let them suffer. i wouldnt even cash a check of restitution from her, i would frame it and hang it on my wall...

As much as I would like to believe her statement, I suspect it was written out for her by her attorney. I highly doubt she believes what she said, although I wish she did, I am just not willing to hand her/let her keep 4 horses and find out. Having said that, I am glad she pled guilty, but am fairly certain that if the pressure is let up off her, she will be back at it.
In my opinion, AC doesn't have the means to keep this sort of thing under control. It took the responsible animal community demanding action over and over for something to be done. For that, I am grateful to all who stood up for the animals. I did my part and hope everyone else did as well. Having said that, I have a question. For those who supported Dean, especially for an extended period of time, do you have any suggestions to inform the next round of unsuspecting supporters that are charmed by her? You know what it took to change your mind, what would it take to stop her sooner rather than later?

Frankie isn't broke to ride? I really thought she was.
Gleed is more then nutso... unless she has had an extreme personality shift she is kicker who aims for people's heads.

well, she offered these horses for free to a pony club today. can you imagine? no regard for any human or the horses. these are children and she is trying to get KIDS to take horses that "want to kick your head off" (a quote of tash).
How dare you put these kids in this kind of danger, dean? i thought you were a mother. Fix your own mess and find these horses appropriate homes instead of trying to pawn them off on unsuspecting families with horse crazy kinds. thank heavens there are parents in the know that protect their kids from people like you.
fine, rope in adults that buy your load of crap but when you try to harm our children, you have picked a whole different battle...

hey all...i am sure most of you saw this on the safe board. she has never complied to any stipulations before but maybe 180 days in jail will do it....
i guess this was sent to someone that inquired regarding the sentencing, not sure tho...
Case number 081-042673KNT: Solomon, Dean
Dear Ms. Baker, Thank you for contacting the King County Prosecutor's Office regarding the pending sentencing against Dean Solomon. Solomon faces up to a year in jail based upon the crime she pled guilty to. As part of the plea agreement the State will not be recommend jail time but will recommend the following conditions: Mental health evaluation and treatment 240 hours of community service Not to possess any horses until she is in compliance with mental health treatment and makes a showing to the court that she is financially, physically, and mentally capable of caring for them. Allow Animal Control reasonable access to all locations animals are boarded in the future. 24 months of probation. If she violates any of these terms the Prosecutor's Office can recommend up to 180 days in jail. We believe this resolution and recommended sentence will serve notice that neglecting animals will not be tolerated. Sincerely, Ian Goodhew King County Prosecutor's Office
