Please in light this backwood farmer as to why you say horses are being hidden (where and by who) and why you think that we all have been to the PEC... I have my horses and you have yours...Hope you got a bill of sale for each one...My say I bought them, Vet bills say I pay for them... Yes us east side of the mountain people may have no brains, but we don't say things about other we never meet... I'm really sorry any of this ever hit the web...Started people hating each other and we did get along even if we never meet... Talked about getting together some time, but now wouldn't or couldn't say my name out loud in any WA town... You now that big H on the front of my shirt...Now what does that H stand for HMMMM... Yes my name is chatty (Kathy) and proud of it....

Does that H on your shirt stand for Huh?
No one has suggested that anyone from eastern of the mountains is backwoods or has no brain. Or that 'everyone' has been to PEC. Why wouldn't you say your name out loud in any WA town?
I am very glad to know that 'east side of the mountain people' 'don't say things about other we never meet'... Sounds like a great group of folks!

maybe you east of the mountain folks who HAVE NEVER BEEN TO PEC should stop dismissing and denying what is being said by people over here who HAVE been to PEC and HAVE SEEN the horrible conditions there and HAVE SEEN the horses who were starved and neglected by Dean.
Yes, anyone can start a nasty internet rumor. But when you have countless people coming forward to say it's the truth, and back that up with criminal charges by the county, maybe you ought to start listening to us.
This is not about "hating." This is about stopping someone who is doing harm to horses. If Dean was really a good rescuer with a well maintained facility we all would LOVE her. There aren't enough good rescues over here to handle the volume of horses that need help. We would love it if PEC and Dean were for real. But someone who is only interested in the "rush" of saving and not the hard work that comes later is a MENACE, not an asset to horses.

Kathy, As someone above said, we all love horses and would be thrilled if Dean Solomon did a wonderful job and her facility was clean and happy. But it was/is not.
I had a horse arrive at my farm from QT at Dean's. Her feet were horrendous; she could barely walk. This was after 30 days in Dean's care with adoptors who would have paid for whatever the mare needed..
In addition, my friend in San Diego QTd a CBER horse at Dean's for three months. Dean charged her for board, training and vet work. None of it ever happened. The weanling was still wild after 3 months, he had never been gelded, had never left his small muddy paddock, and his supposed multiple bouts of strangles were a farce. Dean pocketed $1100. She eventually stopped returning the woman's phone calls and emails. The adoptor had to hire a hauler to show up at PEC and take the poor horse away.
I helped my friend to sort things out. We spoke with current PEC boarders who verified the horse had never been seen out of the paddock, certainly not in "training" with Dean, who we found out later doesn't have the skills to train a feral horse. I made many calls to vet and farriers who had worked at PEC. Over and over, I was told that it was a shoddy operation, people did not get paid, creditors were after her, professionals did work for cash there only. The picture of a shady situation with a woman who was a hoarder became sadly clear.
My friend prepared a case and took Dean to small claims court. She won because Dean never even showed up to defend herself. If someone was innocent, don't you think they'd show up and try to defend such a claim?
You or anyone else who wants to read this case can find it at King County Courthouse Small Claims Court. It's "Meagan Phillips v. Pacific Equestrian Center" from December 2006.
I appreciate you have a standard of conduct. Would you take someone's money, someone who gave you money in good faith, and pocket it without doing the work you are being paid for?
At some point, when someone like Dean Solomon is out-and-out lying, stealing and neglecting horses, you can no longer be polite and nod. This is not about being rude and getting retribution, it's about letting the world know that this woman is SICK, a thief, a liar and a major hoarder. The game is over for Dean Solomon. Conviction or not, she can never retract the allegations made against her. They've all over the internet, which is fitting, since that's how she lives ---- all over the internet.

Katie, we'ved talk on-line a few times...Repsect you highly....I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong...Just saying how sad this has become...
Please know that life is so short, I intend to honor all for their work in rescue of all animals...As there is so much work to do and when it's time hope that you all carry on and not waste our precious time on this planet....

Chatty you seem like a really nice lady and I am sure that your heart is in the right place. It is hard to understand that people can behave with the duplicity that Dean does, when you are not wired that way.
In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Why can't we all just get along?" In Dean's case it is because she needs to be stopped. The horses are the ones who are suffering. Take another look at the horses that were removed from PEC. It is hard to ignore their condition. Is this the way horses should be treated? Is this the way a rescue operates? You can not keep taking in horses if you can not care for what you already have. Horses do not become more adoptable sitting in mud not being handled or worked with.
If Dean showed the least bit of remorse or accountability I doubt that everyone would be so hard on her. Her nasty snip its and out and out denial is going to be her downfall. It is highly doubtful that there is a conspiracy that includes nearly every Vet, Farrier and feed dealer in the state of Washington to get Dean.

hindsight and anyone it would be nice to meet for coffee some day...NOT to talk about these issues, just a time to get to know each other...Each part of WA has a different life style....Some in lg houses w/ white fences and green fields...Others in single wides, railroad ties/cattle panels corrals and 1000's of acres of wheat...Sagebush that it take 20 acres per animal... Hard life for some...Rain, lots of mud..Snow, need to plow in to feed..Heat, in the hundreds...Drive a couple of 100 miles and things change.... As you can see, we have alot to talk about.......

Katie-Watermark Farm
You put that better than I ever could. I still don't know what happened to Painter's Lady and I do know there was NEVER an adoption contract. I hope she gets what she deserves and she should never be allowed to have any animals in her care EVER AGAIN.
Your post was very well put and very open and honest, Thank You for posting that post. How anyone would want to be associated with Dean is beyond me but I guess they will all find out just like everyone did with CBEr, it just takes alot of time and horses have to suffer in the meantime. And all I care about is the horses, I could care less about Dean's fake illness or anything she does or doesn't do as long as she can NOT hurt animals anymore.
